Specialty Lifting Device Inspection

Specialty Lifting Device Inspection: NIS provides inspection per OSHA General Duty Clause and ASME B30.20 standard of:

  • Specialty Lifters
  • End Effectors
  • C-Hooks
  • Sheet Lifters
  • Coil Lifters
  • Car Carriers
  • Assembly Line Lifters

When you bring any of the above items to NIS for inspection, the following steps will occur:

  1. Physical characteristics, such as capacity, serial number, type and tooling number of Specialty Lifters are recorded on an inspection report.
  2. Specialty Lifters are visually inspected for excessive wear, deformation, out of plane bending, excessive gouges and missing capacity markings.
  3. If necessary, physical measurements of Specialty Lifters are taken to keep records of stretch or growth from year to year.
  4. Specialty Lifters are load tested to 125% of safe working load limit as required.
  5. Welds of Specialty Lifters are inspected for cracks invisible to the naked eye using either a Magnetic Particle test or a Liquid Penetrant test.
  6. Each passing Specialty Lifter will be tagged with a color coded inspection tag or sticker, demonstrating that it has been checked.
  7. Specialty Lifters which do not pass inspection will be tagged with a caution tag as well as a red paint mark.
  8. Finally, a computer generated report will be provided on a spreadsheet with a certificate governing regulatory standards for all passing items.
