Hardware Inspection

Rigging Hardware Inspection: Inspection of Eye Bolts, Swivel Hoist Rings, Shackles and Star Point Lifter, per OSHA General Duty Clause and ASME B18.15 standard.

  • Physical characteristics, such as size, type and serial number if available of hardware are recorded on an inspection report.
  • Hardware is visually inspected for elongation, wear, deformation, and missing capacity markings.
  • Bails and hooks of hardware are inspected for cracks that can not be seen by the naked eye using a Magnetic Particle test or a Liquid Penetrant test.
  • Each passable piece of hardware will be tagged with a color coded inspection tag, demonstrating that it has been checked.
  • Hardware which does not pass inspection will be tagged with a caution tag as well as a red paint mark.
  • Lastly, a computer generated report will be provided on a spreadsheet with a certificate to governing regulatory standards for all passing inspections.
