Crane Hook Inspection: Inspection of Crane Hooks, per OSHA 1910.179 standard and ASME B30.10 standard.
- Physical characteristics, such as capacity, serial number, type and manufacturer if available of crane hooks are recorded on an inspection report.
- Crane hooks are visually inspected for excessive wear, deformation, out of plane bending, excessive gouges and missing capacity markings.
- Throat and saddle measurements of crane hook are taken to keep records of stretch or growth from year to year.
- Crane hooks are inspected for cracks that can not be seen by the naked eye using a Magnetic Particle test or a Liquid Penetrant test.
- Each passable crane hook will be tagged with a color coded inspection tag or sticker, demonstrating that it has been checked.
- Crane hooks which do not pass inspection will be tagged with a caution tag as well as a red paint mark.
- Lastly, a computer generated report will be provided on a spreadsheet with a certificate to governing regulatory standards for all passing items.
